One of the things you can do when you understand the physical world at a molecular level well enough is: extraction-free fragrance.

For centuries, the process of creating fragrance required extracting scents from flowers, fruits, herbs, and other organic sources. The methods can be labor-intensive, and limited by the availability and sustainability of raw materials.

In 2022, Rodrigo and Enrico founded Aeir to bypass the need for extraction altogether. Rather than relying on extracting oils or compounds from natural sources, Aeir uses biochemistry to reconstruct and recreate exact scent profiles by synthesizing the molecular structures that make up those aromas.

Bioengineered and synthesized in a way that’s both precise and sustainable, Aeir is essentially an olfactory GPT.

I worked with the team to explore ideas on how to engage with scent in a ritualistic way.
